1. Getting started

The first time you open Remember With Me, you’ll be asked who it’s for — you, or someone you’re setting it up for. If it’s for a family member, you’ll confirm you’re doing this on their behalf and choose a 4-digit code, so the Family Companion (the setup and editing side of the app) stays separate from the simple, calm experience the person you’re caring for sees.

Right after that, the app walks you through a short Getting Started checklist — a name, a first person, a first story, and a few other basics. There’s no required order; add what you have, and come back for the rest anytime from the Family Companion’s Getting Started tile.

2. Adding people, stories & photos

Everything is added from the Family Companion, using the 4-digit code you chose during setup:

  • People — a name, relationship, a few facts, a photo, and optionally a voice recording and a meaningful song
  • Stories — a memory, typed or recorded in a family member’s own voice
  • Places & Things — a home, a hometown, a pet, or anything else that anchors them
  • Calendar & Daily Reset — upcoming visits and the few things they ask every day

Can’t get to the device in person? “Send Something From Here” lets a family member elsewhere fill out an entry — photo and voice recording included — on their own phone, then hand it over through text, email, or any app they already use. Whoever has the device taps the file to import it directly.

3. Recording & playing back voices

Tap Record, allow microphone access if asked, and tap Stop recording when you’re done. Tap Play to hear it back, or Re-record to try again. If a recording sounds silent, check that your phone’s ringer/silent switch isn’t muting playback — the app plays recordings regardless of that switch, but it’s worth checking on older devices.

4. Family Sync

Family Sync is entirely optional. It lets more than one family member’s device stay lined up on shared app settings using an anonymous, per-device connection — it does not send photos, stories, or personal details anywhere. From the Family Companion, one device starts Family Sync and shares a short invite code; another device joins with that code and waits for approval from the first.

If you’re having trouble starting or joining Family Sync, make sure you’re on the latest version of the app first, then try again — most sync issues are resolved by an app update.

5. Subscription & billing

Remember With Me includes a 7-day free trial, then continues on whichever plan was selected: Monthly, Yearly, or a limited-time Lifetime option. All billing goes through your Apple or Google account, not directly through us.

To view, change, or cancel a subscription, use your phone’s own subscription settings (the App Store’s or Google Play’s Subscriptions page) — we can’t change or refund a subscription directly, since Apple and Google manage billing themselves. The Membership screen inside Family Companion also links straight there.

6. Your data & deleting it

By default, everything you add stays only on the device it was entered on. From the Family Sync screen in Family Companion, you can:

  • Delete Everything On This Device — permanently wipes all local content and resets settings on that device
  • Delete This Household (household owner only) — schedules shared Family Sync data for permanent deletion, with a 60-day grace period

Full details on what’s collected and how it’s used are in the Privacy Policy.

7. Troubleshooting

Most issues clear up with the basics: make sure you’re on the latest version of the app (check your App Store or Google Play “Updates” page), and try closing and reopening the app. If something still isn’t working, email us — see below — and include what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead. A screenshot helps a lot.
